Peak Crossing State School uses nationally recognised testing and assessment programs to know the ability level of every student, comparable to Australian averages.

We aim to help students achieve greater than the national average in reading, spelling, grammar and punctuation, maths and science.

The National Assessment Plan Literacy & Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests are used very strategically at Peak to achieve a sustained trajectory of improvement for all our students. Over the past five years our students have improved each year to now boast our greatest achievements ever which is greater than the State and equal to the Nation in most strands.

We also use standardised tests developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) on a term by term basis. These include the following:

  • Tests Of Reading Comprehension (TORCH)
  • Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) Written Spelling
  • Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) Grammar & Punctuation
  • Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) MATHS
  • Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) I Can Do Maths
  • Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) Science

Furthermore, we have created school standards, targets and goals for each of these tests to ensure teachers are helping their students performing at pace with the term’s standards and targets for reading, spelling, grammar and punctuation, maths and science.
