At Peak Crossing State School, we believe that assessment is an important part of understanding how each child is progressing in their learning journey. We use a balanced approach to testing—one that supports student growth and wellbeing.
Our teachers use a variety of assessment tools to monitor student understanding, guide teaching, and celebrate achievement. These include classroom-based tasks as well as system-wide assessments such as:
NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy): Administered in Years 3 and 5, this assessment provides a snapshot of student performance in reading, writing, language conventions and numeracy.
These assessments, along with ongoing teacher observations and classroom activities, help us tailor learning to meet the needs of every student. Above all, we ensure that testing is conducted in a supportive and encouraging environment, where students are known, valued and guided to achieve their best.
