School Wide Positive Behaviour Program

School Wide Positive Behaviour Program (SWPB) is a whole school approach to strengthening student discipline. We place a strong emphasis on the use of OneSchoolbehaviour report data for decision-making in preventing and responding to problem behaviour. Data is also collected for the regular, measurable evaluation of SWPB implementation by the principal and all staff. 

SWPB practices are grounded in a research-validated, learning theory of behaviour and are easily understood by teachers, principals, students and their parents.

To be successful citizens of the future, children require knowledge of themselves, of their community and of the modern world. For children growing up in a complex society such as ours, social agents such as the family, peer group, school, technology and mass media work constantly with each other, and change in one tends to lead to change in others.

The education they receive at school should be relevant to their needs and aspirations and also relevant to community expectations. It should be challenging, promote social, intellectual, emotional, creative and physical development and maximize potential for self-development.

In the world of people, children will find the skills of communication invaluable. The skills of interacting effectively with others, to accept that differences can be resolved by non-violent means, are necessary to participate in and contribute to society.

Socially acceptable behaviour patterns and self-discipline will enable children to exercise judgment, make decisions and to function as individuals and members of groups. Children face difficult choices where they need to make prudent moral decisions in the face of an ever changing system of social values and diverse cultures.

The diversity of values and beliefs within our society means that the education provided should foster in children a respect for the rights and needs of others and promote the value of helping and working cooperatively.

All children have the right to learn and participate in all activities and they should be able to develop a sense of personal worth through acceptance and an appreciation of the equal value and influence they have on society’s goals and directions.

Equal access and participation will ensure that all have the right to share in the benefits of society. As educators we have the responsibility to encourage children to take advantage of and be actively involved in all learning situations, assist them in reviewing their own abilities as being appropriate to a wider sphere of interests than were perhaps traditionally acceptable, provide educational outcomes that will ensure all round development of the child in preparation for the future and provide appropriate opportunities to communicate, investigate, create, express and acquire knowledge for a lifetime of learning.
