Core principles of our pedagogical framework
There are six 'core systemic principles' which inform our framework. These are:
Student centred planning
High expectations
Alignment of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment
Evidence based decision making
Targeted and scaffolded instruction
Safe, supportive, connected and inclusive learning environments
Under each of these principles we have implemented whole school policies, procedures and strategies to ensure the best teaching and learning for our students.
These policies, procedures and strategies utilise research proven models such as:
Five Dimensions of Teaching and Learning (2011)
John Fleming’s 'Explicit Teaching Framework' (2007)
Marzano’s 'Challenging Goals and Effective Feedback' (2003)
The school has also developed and implemented its own:
Whole school standards and targets for English, Maths and Science
National Assessment Program–Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) test preparation schedule
Instructional leadership framework - with explicit teaching of reading, spelling and numeracy
Data analysis for individualised learning
'Individual Curriculum Plans' (ICP) for diagnosed and identified students
